John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit with his pop-folk songs, many of which were inspired by Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. There isn't any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Denver is today Colorado's international image. If you travel with me, you may meet people at the other side of the world. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're Colorado-based, Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief career performing in small folk-based groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days after performing it to the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
